What I’m Doing On My Summer Vacation (Jersey Shore)

What I’m Doing On My Summer Vacation (Jersey Shore)

We haven’t been in  Point Pleasant Beach in 25 years. We never dreamed of having a house on the beach. The beachfront is crowded with homes—as are the surrounding blocks—because the land is so valuable. Homes are installed, sardine-like, on small lots with great ingenuity (or fortuitous combination). This place, which my wife found, is wonderful, with three decks, four bedrooms, three full baths, central air, and a garage!

It was a record breaking 101 degrees here on Saturday. The weekends are crowded but the beaches are so large that there’s plenty of room (as you can see below). We’re here with our son (in from LA), daughter, and grandchildren, and we all ate in a bar last night followed by cigars and Devil’s Cut out on the deck. Watching people walk by on the boardwalk is beyond fascinating.

We’re hosting a barbecue today for some family members! Take a guess who’s idea that was. (She doesn’t read my blog because I never told her that I have one!) This morning Pea Pod (owned by Stop and Shop) pulled up with enough groceries to take care of the Sixth Fleet for a deployment. My daughter is a New Yorker at heart and believes in one thing: delivery.

I remember wading out into the Atlantic Ocean in 1985 in Wildwood, NJ (an hour south of here) after I had been fired, and wondering what would become of me. When I waded out yesterday, I wondered the same thing.

Alan, spectacular views and natural lighting – really like view overlooking kitchen, great room, etc..! Also, perfect venue to watch Federer take care of business. Enjoy and thanks for sharing.

I’m impressed with the picture quality. What camera are you using?

    Thanks

Nikon D40X. The photographer at my daughter’s wedding told me he might steal it!
