Beastly Business and the IQ in Rhode Island

Beastly Business and the IQ in Rhode Island

The general consternation in Rhode Island (which is a State of Mind, not a State of the Union) over the past two days has been a pair of rare, black coyotes roaming around Warwick, the second largest city. People have been feeding them, which is very dangerous, and instead of the normal skittish behavior of these animals, they have been calm, walking the streets like dogs. They were fed live chickens, apparently, by someone, and people have tied up traffic taking photos. The mayor was interviewed on the morning news and a debate broke out as to how to deal with them. The state agency in charge has refused to try to relocate them, hoping they’d return to the wild.

Well, they acted like dogs BECAUSE THEY ARE DOGS! Apparently, they’re a couple of German Shepherds (for which black is not uncommon) and a guy called this morning to say they’re his dogs and he’ll stop by to pick them up! Of course, the dogs may not want to give up being fed live poultry.

Are you still wondering about the intelligence of the American people (or is it just Rhode Islanders, where people have a “summer home” 45 minutes from their main home)?

Of course, we may be missing the point: The Shepherds may identify as coyotes….
