New York, New York

New York, New York

My first trip in 15 months, by Acela to the Big Apple. The first class car was about 85% filled, excellent service and right on time. The new Moynihan Train Hall compared to the old, ancient Penn Station is a Rembrandt compared to finger painting.

The traffic is lighter, we made record time up 8th Ave. and the cross streets move well. The driver told me the airport trips are worse than ever—I guess people getting out of town with restrictions off. There are a lot of office buildings, stores, and restaurants closed, some forever. There are crowds on the streets for the carts and food trucks, but not the elbow-to-elbow stuff of the past.
