Worse Than No Business

Worse Than No Business

There is such a thing as “bad business” and it's worse than “no business.” The dysfunctional behaviors of a prospect (lateness, cancellations, unreasonable expectations, lack of respect, etc.) do not magically change if the prospect becomes a client. Abandon your “poverty mentality” that says all business possible must be obtained or we'll starve. Bad business undermines your ability to deliver for your positive clients, causes stress, and even lawsuits, let alone delayed or unfulfilled payments.

Ask yourself if you respect your potential buyer and his or her habits. If you're even unsure, find someone else somewhere else. These people don't deserve you and you don't need them.
