What Do You Mean, “Go Ahead”?

What Do You Mean, “Go Ahead”?

I find it interesting that when I pause on the roads to allow a driver to turn in front of me or pull out, that person often looks at me skeptically, as if it’s a trick or a trap. Sometimes I flash my lights or wave three times before their shock wears off and they realize someone is trying to help them.

Such is the state of the roads and of the mentality of the populace. We’ve become cynical about good gestures, suspicious of others’ good intent. These are mentalities that would sic the dog on Santa Claus or refuse a colleague’s offer of a free drink at a bar.

How do you go through life that way, always expecting the worst from humankind? I’ll tell you how: miserably.
